Congratulations to Yisen Wang and Heidi Fehr for publishing a paper on impact-aware motion reconstruction from a foot-mounted IMU. The new method makes a major improvement in trajectory reconstruction on level ground by accounting for impact-related information loss, e.g. through range, bandwidth, or sample rate limitations of the sensor. The method is critical for enabling detailed reconstruction of the swing motion, without distortions that plagued methods that ignored this impact, such as showing the foot moving through the ground.
